(Reduction Mammaplasty)
PROCEDURE
Dr. Salloum will decrease the size and weight of very large, pendulous breasts to provide you with smaller, better-shaped breasts that are in proportion with the rest of your body. Procedure can also involve a reduction in the size of the areola or skin surrounding the nipple. Liposuction may be used to remove excess fat from the armpit area. Usually performed to alleviate physical symptoms such as back pain as well as for cosmetic improvement.
LENGTH
2 to 4 hours.
ANESTHESIA
Almost always general.
IN/OUTPATIENT
Usually outpatient but sometimes inpatient.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary bruising, swelling, discomfort and numbness. Temporary bleeding.
RECOVERY
Back to work in 1 week or more. Resume most strenuous activities in 1 month. Fading of scars in several months to a year.

RESULTS
Permanent.
